Xinjiang 新疆Xīnjiāng
A large vineyard region on the old road west. The English critics’ names are Tiansai’s Skyline of Gobi, and Zhongfei.
In her blind tasting, Jancis Robinson named two Xinjiang wines among those that stood out: Zhongfei, and Skyline of Gobi. Skyline of Gobi is a range from Tiansai Vineyards in the Yanqi Basin, not a second estate. Decanter has published a note on Tiansai’s Skyline of Gobi Grand Reserve Marselan 2017, from Yanqi, a Silver medal.
A Decanter exhibitor listing dates Tiansai to 2010, names Chen Lizhong as owner, and gives tsjz.com. A public visitor programme was not confirmed. Background notes say the estate receives guests; that claim is left off this page until a producer source says so.
Zhongfei remains a name in Robinson’s sentence. No website or cuvée was confirmed, so the directory keeps it separate and short. Grape wine itself reached China along the Silk Road after Zhang Qian’s missions in the second century BC; that history is on the timeline, and it is not a claim that any present vineyard is continuous with it.
