Shanxi 山西Shānxī

Grace Vineyard at Taigu publishes the tour: cellar, museum, vineyard, tasting. Fly into Taiyuan.

Grace Vineyard’s English site publishes a tour of the Shanxi estate at Dongjia, Rencun, Taigu: the workshop, the underground cellar, a museum of boutique Chinese winemaking, the vineyard, and a meal with the wines. The Chinese site asks you to reserve. Weekday hours are listed as 8:30–12:00 and 13:00–17:30, with weekend cover more reliable from May to October. A 2025 note on the site marks 28 years.

The practical route is the one the estate prints: Taiyuan Wusu airport, then the road. Its sample day includes the Chang family mansion on the way.

James Suckling has written that Grace Vineyard Chairman’s Reserve 2006, which he scored 86 as a Wine Spectator editor, was for a long time the Chinese wine he could remember. Jancis Robinson notes Gérard Colin’s work at Grace before Lafite’s project in Shandong. Janet Wang, in Robinson’s piece on who writes about wine in China, praises the online voice of Grace, together with Changyu and Silver Heights.

Background notes also place a Grace vineyard in Ningxia. The pages that publish a visit describe Taigu. The Ningxia claim is not repeated as fact.
